For an articulation mechanism, which can be used, for example, as a setting-out device on turn-and-tilt windows or the like and which limit the tilt-opening width of the wing and does not impede the turn-opening of the latter, there is provided a run-on braking device, the braking force of which varies automatically in dependence on the spreading angle between the mechanism members, specifically in such a way that it increases continuously in the event of a reduction of the spreading angle, whilst it decreases continuously in the event of an enlargement of this spreading angle. By the use of linkages which are pivotably interconnected by means of pivot joints or the like and which can be adjusted about the pivot joint or the like either into an overlapping position above one another or into an at least acute-angled spreading position relative to one another, this object is achieved in that at least one of the mutually confronting faces of the linkages is equipped with a brake lining which extends from the pivot joint or the like in the longitudinal direction of the linkages and which has run-on slopes directed transversely thereto and/or is connected operatively to such run-on slopes.
