A filter apparatus for eliminating impurities from liquids, in particular from dispersion paints, in a vessel (1), is provided with a sieve (2) rotating in the vessel interior, the interior of which sieve is open at one end to the clear liquid chamber (18) for the filtered liquid and is closed at its other end or is likewise open to a clear liquid chamber, and is provided with a liquid feed (15) in an annular chamber (16) (unfiltered liquid chamber) between the vessel interior wall and the sieve (2). In addition, a filtrate outlet (16) from the unfiltered liquid chamber (18), a sealing ring between the sieve outer wall and the vessel interior wall to separate the clear liquid chamber (18) from the unfiltered liquid chamber (16) and a liquid outlet (20) from the clear liquid chamber are provided. At least one annular channel (21) is arranged in the unfiltered liquid chamber (16) running round the sieve (2), which annular channel is furnished with at least one compressed air or flushing liquid feed (22) and which is equipped with a multiplicity of spraying orifices or spraying nozzles (23) distributed over its periphery and directed onto the sieve (2). <IMAGE>
