PURPOSE:To make a pot life longer and curing time shorter and to obtain an excellent magnetic recording medium by using an oxide magnetic paint contg. a polyurethane binder using a solvent. contg. acetyl acetone or the fluorine substd. body thereof as a binder. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic paint contg. magnetic powder such as gamma-Fe2O3, etc., an OH group contg. resin and a polyisocyanate compd. in an org. solvent contg. acetyl acetone or trifluoroacetyl acetone or hexafluoroacetyl acetone is prepd. Such paint masks the OH group by the solvation, thereby suppressing reaction with the isocyanate group and extending the pot life. When such paint is coated on a base body and dried, the solvent evaporates and the suppression of reaction is released and the paint is cured at a room temp. or by heating, by which the paint is quickly cured. The magnetic recording medium having excellent wear resistance, running property moisture resistance, heat resistance, etc. is thus obtd. with good productivity.
