Under normal idling conditions, fuel from a passage 25 mixes with air drawn in through holes 28, the mixture entering the induction tube 19 through a port 32. If engine driven accessories load the idling engine so that the latter tends to stall, a spring-loaded piston valve 44 moves to the right from the position shown as a result of the reduced inlet manifold suction acting through a passage 42, and extra fuel then enters the induction tube via a metering jet 36 and passages 39 and 42. Under these conditions, extra air is also supplied via a filter 52 and a suction actuated ball valve 51. The valves 44 and 51 may be set to open simultaneously or sequentially. |
