PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium prevented against lowering in recording sensitivity by a protective layer, comprising a thin film recording layer of an organic coloring matter and a protective layer comprising a light-absorbing material. CONSTITUTION:The thin film recording layer 2 of an organic coloring matter, e.g., a layer of 1-methyl-2-[7-(1-methyl-3,3-dimethyl-5-chloro-2-indolinylidene)-1,3,5- heptatrienyl]-3,3-dimethyl-5-chloroindolium perchlorate, is provided on a base (preferably, made of an acrylic resin) 1, and a protective layer 3 comprising a light-absorbing material, e.g., 1-n-octyl-2-[7-(1-n-octyl-3,3-dimethyl-5-chloro-2-indolinylidene)-1,3, 5-heptatrienyl]-3,3-dimethyl-5-chloroindolium bromide, is provided thereon to obtain the objective optical recording medium. |
