PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily perform focus aligning operation without damaging a specimen and an acoustic lens, by performing focus alignment by calculating a necessary movement amount, when a specimen is placed, by operation. CONSTITUTION:Now, a specimen stand 5 is set to an initial position (c). At this time, a focus aligning disance (l) is b-c and the specimen stand 5 is manually raised only over this distance (l) and measured distance information, obtained when the display of a display apparatus becomes sharp, is stored in memory. The measured distance measuring information is obtained by electrically detecting the movement of graduations 5. Thereafter, the specimen stand 5 is returned to the initial position (c) and a specimen, of which the thickness (t) is measured, is placed on said stand.
