<p>Appts. comprises a stack of multiple internally-serrated rings alternating with externally-serrated plates, the filaments being opned by running rhough the rings and over the rims of the discs, in the valleys of the serrations, due to the spacing of the rings and discs in the vertical direction of the stack. Pref. the rings and discs also have multiple large arcuate projections in their serrated zones. Pref. some rings and discs are moved vertically, some with circular motion, and some with radial motion. Newly-spun synthetic tows are opened without damage to filaments or stretching, so that subsequent stretching is uniform.</p> |
