PURPOSE:To simplify a conveying path and to enable decrease in jam and reduction in copying time by providing a device for upsetting transfer paper in a passage for conveying the transfer paper connecting plural image recording bodies. CONSTITUTION:A device 23 for upsetting transfer paper is constituted of a three- roller pair 25 and an upsetting path 26. If the two driven rollers on the upper side of the roller pair 25 open the path 26, transfer paper 7a enters an upsetting path 26 and is upset. If the upsetting path is closed, the paper 7a passes simply through said path. An upsetting conveyor 23 side and an upsetting intermediate tray 24 side are selectively changed over by a changeover pawl 29. The paper 7a is thus conveyed from a photosensitive body 1a side to a photosensitive body 1b side in a short and linear conveying path 20 for upsetting and therefore the generation of the jam of the transfer paper is decreased and the copying speed is improved.
