PURPOSE:To reduce the rise of temperature of a light emitting diode and to keep the light emission efficiency in the best state by arranging plural kinds of light emitting diodes different in color alternately in series and lighting light emitting diodes having the same colors alternately to illuminate an original. CONSTITUTION:A light source 4 is provided with red light emitting diodes 61, 62... and green light emitting diodes 71, 72... alternately in one line on a narrow and long substrate 5, and a columnar condenser lens 10 is provided in the side of their light emitting faces along the lengthwise direction, and the light is condensed linearly on the surface to be copied of an original 2 and scans it. When the color original 2 to be copied is placed on a platen 3 and copying is started, red and green light emitting diodes are lit alternately to illuminate the original, and therefore, adjacent light emitting diodes are not lit simultaneously, and consequently, rise of temperature of the light emitting diode group is reduced, and a lack of the exposure due to degradation of light emission efficiency is prevented. |
