Strip lights for use in areas protected against firedamp and explosion are provided with a seal (11) which hermetically seals the interior of the strip light and is fixed between a housing (1) and a covering shroud (4). In order to permit rapid and simple fitting and removal, according to the invention the seal (11) is fastened on the covering shroud (4). Experience shows that, when exchanging the covering shroud (4), it is likewise necessary to change the seal (11), so that in the case of a design of the strip light according to the invention there is no longer a need for separate removal or fitting of the seal (11).
