A strip light for use in areas protected against firedamp and explosion, comprising a trough-like housing (1), a reflector (2) fastened detachably on this housing (1), mount holders (3) for at least one fluorescent tube (7), and a covering shroud (4) consisting of transparent material, must be maintained regularly. In order to increase the ease of maintenance, the strip light according to the invention is designed in such a way that the mount holders (3) are fastened on the reflector (2) and that the reflector (2) is connected in a swivelling manner to the housing (1) by hinges (6). As a result, maintenance and repair work are possible inside the housing without laborious removal of the fluorescent tubes (7). <IMAGE>
