PURPOSE:To improve fatigue strength of springs by applying dry- or liquid-honing, and the like following shot peening on the spring surface. CONSTITUTION:Residual compressive stress is developed by applying shot peening on the spring surface, followed by dry or liquid-honing or sand blasting with which the dent-forming force and the effect are limited to only on the surface of the spring. Thus fatigue strength of the spring is improved by diminishing the unevenness on the surface produced by shot peening, together with increased residual stress of the surface. |
