Cooling air flowing in the direction of the arrow (52) flows round the bearing (16) of the galette shaft (10.2) of a galette (1.3). The cooling air enters from the driving side a cavity (37.2) of the galette shaft (10.2) which leads into the vicinity of the bearing (16) and passes through air throughflow ports (38.2) around the bearing (16) into an interspace (45) and from there, conveyed by a ring of fan blades (49) fastened to the galette (1.3), through ports (53) in the machine stand (12) into the open. The transfer of heat through the galette shaft (10.2) in the direction of its drive is avoided, and impairment of the heating device (25) of the galette by cooling air is prevented by a protective heat shield (51). <IMAGE>
