1,255,254. D-Ribose. TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYU K.K. 3 Feb., 1969 [1 Feb., 1968], No. 5605/69. Heading C2C. D-Ribose is obtained by cultivating a D- ribose producing .microorganism of the genus Bacillus which requires L-tyrosine, L-tryptophan and L-phenylalanine and which cannot utilize D-gluconic acid, L-arabinose and D- ribose for growth, in a culture medium containing more than 100 y/ml. of each of these amino acids. They may be added as such or natural substances containing them may be used, e.g. dried yeast, peptone, meat extract, casamino acid or corn steep liquor. Examples use strains of B. pumilus and B. subtilis. The ribose may be isolated by alcohol precipitation after filtering of the microorganism, desalting with an ion-exchange resin and decolouring in a carbon powder column. |
