PURPOSE:To control ignition timing in accordance with the individual characteristics at the present time of each engine by modifying the value of a data table which becomes the determining factor of the angle of lead of ignition in accordance with the frequency of occurrence of the knocking of an engine. CONSTITUTION:When the frequency of knocking (x) gets smaller than a set value (alpha) for example, it is considered that the occurrence of knocking has almost terminated and that nearly optimum angle of lead is achieved, proceeding to the next step. Then, a correcting angle K is written in a memory 6 as a correcting angle for obtaining nearly optimum lead of angle for an engine at the present time, thereby, rewriting a previously written correcting angle. Accordingly, since the value of angle of lead read out from a data table is corrected by the latest correcting angle, an ignition control can be carried out at the point of time of initial optimum angle of lead. Thereby, the stable control of the angle of lead of ignition can be carried out, sharply improving a fuel consumption and output characteristics. |
