<p>Froth compsn. for continuously and directly treating a fabric or paper has froth from density 0.005-0.3 g/cc; average foam bubble dia. 0.05-0.5 mm; and foam half life 1-60 min. The foam compsn. consists of 5-75 wt. % functional textile treating cpd. (I), 0.2-5 wt. % frothing agent (II), 0-5 wt. % wetting agent (III), and H2O (to 100 wt. %). In use, the foam immediately breaks on contact with the substrate and is absorbed rapidly leaving the surface dry to the touch. Thus the compsn. allows a variety of (I) (flame retardants, fabric softeners, bacteriostats, etc.) to be applied to paper and fabrics without the conventional use of large vols. of H2O. process also allows one side of the fabric to be treated without affecting the other side.</p> |
