<p>A channel with sloping sides, guide vanes and air injection are combined to force the liquid to be treated to flow simultaneously along and across the plant. Aeration and removal of sand are both possible. The clean-up elements are all located in the channel with sloping sides. The guide elements stop the sand, which may be removed by a screw conveyor. Oil may be skimmed off the top. - The aeration section is provided with guide elements and air injector equipment located near the bottom of the channel ensuring rapid movement of the water and absorption of oxygen. The settling section is provided with sludge collector channels at right angles to the flow of water. Sludge may be pumped away from these channels.</p>
