PURPOSE:To reduce the number of picture elements to make a device small-sized and low-cost by driving plural color signals in time division for one picture element to mix colors and displaying plural colors with one picture element. CONSTITUTION:Upper transparent electrode 2 and lower transparent electrodes 3 are formed into a matrix with a liquid crystal layer 1 between them, and a prescribed voltage is given to a driving device 10 to excite the liquid crystal layer 1, and orientation is changed to display a picture. In this liquid crystal display device, one picture element 4 is formed in each of intersectons between upper and lower transparent electrodes 2 and 3. Plural colors are allowed to correspond to one picture element 4, and the picture element is displayed in a proper mixed color dur to time division driving or is displayed in a single color as it is. Thus, the number of picture elements is reduced, and the size of one pictur element is reduced to 1/(2-4), and the picture quality is improved. |
