Process for the manufacture of a microfiltration, ultrafiltration or reverse osmosis element, characterised in that a solution of an alkoxide, of an organometallic compound or of a metal salt of an inorganic or organic acid is produced in an anhydrous organic solvent, a thickening agent also being dissolved therein, in that a thin layer of the mixture is deposited, by painting with slip, on a support layer of pores which are larger than those desired for the element, in that the deposited layer is dried in an atmosphere which is sufficiently moist to permit the hydrolysis of the alkoxide, of the organometallic compound or of the metal salt, and in that a heat treatment of the deposited layer is then performed, resulting in the removal of the thickening agent, followed by the sintering of the particles of this layer. This invention is particularly employed in the manufacture of inorganic microfiltration, ultrafiltration or reverse osmosis membranes. |
