PURPOSE:To reduce minutely the gradation from the shadow part to the high light part of an original by switching the gamma characteristic in response to the luminous amount of a lighting lamp. CONSTITUTION:The 1st original scanning is applied by lighting of one lighting lamp 5 by a gamma correction ROM(B)53 to apply gamma correction only a part in solid lines of a curve (a) of an A/D conversion output signal. Then two lighting lamps 5, 6 are lighted at the same time to attain the 2nd original scan and the gamma conversion is applied only for the part of a curve (b) in solid lines by the corrected value of a gamma correction ROM(A)52 shown in Table 2, then the picture subject to A/D conversion the same as one light lighting is reproduced. Thus, the gradation of the picture is expressed minutely. |
