PURPOSE:To provide a titled nozzle which decreases the inward deflection and tensile stress in a wall owing to thermal expansion and deformation, prevents the crack of a nozzle for pouring a molten metal having a broad sectional shape and assures safe operation for long time by making the central part of the thickness of the long side wall of said nozzle larger toward the outside. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 7 in a tundish 1 is fed from a nozzle 2 for pouring a molten metal having a broad section with water cooling 5 to a water spray 9 and a guide roller 10 part through a force cooling body 4. The long side 16 of the nozzle 2 is restrained by a short side 17 and is deflected inward by thermal expansion, by which the width size is changed and a crack is generated in the long side 16 of the nozzle. Compressive stress and strain are proportional to the square of the length of the side and are inversely proportional to the thickness. The thickness tc in the central part of the long side 16 is therefore made larger than the thickness tn at the end, by which the deflection is decreased to a specific value or below and the tensile stress by the thermal expansion is decreased to prevent the generation of the crack. The life of the nozzle 2 is extended by such shape and the safe operation free from water leakage, etc. is accomplished. |
