PURPOSE:To stop the opening and closing of a bevel valve during the operation of an engine to save fuel by pressing a hydraulic plunger to the lower side of the base end of a rocker arm opening and closing the bevel valve and inactivating the operation of the rocker arm by changeover of hydraulic pressure. CONSTITUTION:At the time of normal operations of an engine, oil pressure is fed to a hydraulic plunger 7 by means of a pump 8, and the base end of a rocker arm 4 is pushed up by the hydraulic plunger 7 and the rocker arm 4 is brought into abutment with a cam 1. When a camshaft 2 is rotated, the rocker arm 4 is pushed down on a support shaft 6 as a fulcrum by the cam 1, and the bevel valve 11 is pressed down and opened or closed. Further, at the time the engine is operated at a reduced speed, a solenoid valve 9 is switched to stop the feed of oil to the hydraulic plunger 7. The base end of the rocker arm 4 is lowered along a long hole 5 and is separated from the cam 1. By this procedure, it is impossible to push the rocker arm 4 by the cam 1, and a bevel valve 11 is left as it is closed. |
