摘要 |

A catalytic composite which comprises a zirconia-alumina support material and an oxidation catalytic metal component selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, and iridium, wherein the zirconia is present in an amount such that the zirconia to oxidation metal component molar ratio is greater than 20:1 and the zirconia to alumina weight ratio is greater than 1:2 is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for effecting the oxidation of noxious exhaust gases comprising carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons with the subject catalytic composite described. Further, there is disclosed a process for effecting the simultaneous conversion of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides contained in hot gases from an internal combustion engine operating upon fuel containing at least .01 gm/liter which process comprises contacting the hot gases with a catalytic composite comprising zirconia-alumina and an oxidation catalytic metal component selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, iridium, and rhodium, wherein the zirconia is present in an amount such that the zirconia to oxidation catalyst metal component molar ratio is greater than 20:1 and the zirconia to alumina weight ratio is greater than 1:2.
|
