PURPOSE:To attain sure seek operation even if a moving distance is short by storing the initial objective FV of a magnetic head, calculating the objective speed MV based on the result of head position detection and the objective track and moving the head with the FV at start and then the MV. CONSTITUTION:The objective track of the magnetic head is set to a cylinder register 20 from a controller. A CPU14 calculates the track number (d) up to the objective track number (d) based on the objective track form the register 20 and the track pulse from a track detection circuit 18. A prescribed objective speed MV is read from the objective speed memory 42 and stored in a register based on the (d). The initial objective speed MV is read from an objective speed memory 42 and stored in a register 21. The head is moved by using the FV larger than the MV for a fixed period (t) at head start and then moved by using the MV next. Since the magnetic head is accelerated rapidly at start, the seek operation is attained surely even at a short seek. |
