PURPOSE:A cosmetic useful as a skin cosmetic such as nutritive cream, hand cream, milky lotion, toilet lotion, etc. or a scalp cosmetic, effective for treating chaps, cracks in the skin, or scalp, improving chapped skin, containing a mucopolysaccharide and a brown dyestuff of an extract of crude sugar. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic containing both a mucopolysaccharide and a substantially pure brown dyestuff extracted from crude sugar. Hyaluronic acid, chondroitin 4-sulfate, and chondroitin 6-sulfate may be preferably cited as the mucopolysaccharide and its amount added is 0.001-5.0wt% preferably 0.05- 3.0wt% based on the total amount of cosmetic. The brown dyestuff extracted from crude sugar, for example, is obtained by dissolving crude sugar in water, treating the solution with an adsorbent, washing the adsorbent with water to remove a sugar component, so that only sugar dyestuff is adsorbed on it. The sugar dyestuff is released by the use of an alcohol, and the eluate is evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure. An amount of the dyestuff added is preferably 0.001-1.0wt%. |
