PRODUCTION OF SOLID POLYPHENYLENE OXIDE

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled solid, especially a film-shaped solid at a low temperature without using calendering process, by compounding a polyphenylene oxide, polystyrene and triallyl isocyanurate at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:10-90wt% polyphenylene oxide (PPO) is compounded with <90wt% polystyrene (PS) and <=60wt% triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) and/or triallyl cyanurate. A film-forming polyphenylene oxide composition can be produced by this process and a solid product is obtained by casting the composition.
