PURPOSE:To allow precise discrimination of a card standard by installing magnetic heads for at least two channels on both sides of a card passage, and arranging these magnetic heads so that they are faced with each other at a track position where the 1st and 2nd card standards overlap each other. CONSTITUTION:When a card of NTT standard is properly inserted, the gap of channel A of a head at the upper side faces any one track of the head, and when a card of ISO standard is inversely inserted, the gap faces the first track 6. The gap of channel B of the head 16 at the upper side faces any one track of the head when the card of NTT standard is properly inserted, and the gap faces the second track 7 when the card of ISO standard is inversely inserted. After detection signals of two channels A and B of a detection head of the NTT side and of two channels A and B of a detection head at the ISO side are amplified by amplifiers 21, 22, 23 and 24, then these signals are inputted to a discrimination circuit 25. |
