The seat comprises a frame 1 on which is mounted a main seat part 9 and a back comprising a top part 2 and a bottom part 4 articulated to each other by means of an articulation 5, the assembly being articulated about an articulation 3 on the frame 1. The seat also comprises an additional seat part 12 mounted in an articulated manner on the frame by means of a double articulation 13, 15. When it is desired to convert the seat into a bed, the main seat part 9 is raised and the back is pulled and folds according to the articulation 5. It is then possible to bring the assembly of the back above the upper level of the frame 1, to realign the parts 2 and 4 and to fold down the assembly thus formed, the end of the part 4 then bearing on the frame of the previous seat in order to constitute a bed. Moreover, the additional seat part can pivot about the articulations 13 and 15 and can constitute a horizontal plane at the rear of the seat and form a lower bed in association with the main seat part 9. <IMAGE>
