<p>Process for preparing trans-phytol and its derivs. of formula (I) comprises condensing Grignard reagent (II) with trans-butene deriv. (III) in presence of a dialkali metal tetrahalocuprate, esp. Li2CuCl4. (I) (R = H or protecting gp. removable under acid conditions R1 = acyl). To produce vitamin K, (I) can then be reacted with the naphthol deriv. of formula (IV) (R2 = acyl). The acyl gp. is then removed and OH gps. oxidised. (III) in which R is not H are new cpds. In the reactions Trans-phytol and hence the more active trans-Vitamin K1 are obtd. free from the unwanted cis isomers.</p> |
