PURPOSE:To efficiently transfer an image with high quality, by a method wherein a sheet provided with a transfer layer comprising a specified resin component is used as a transfer sheet, and the transfer sheet is moved at a specified velocity relative to a head when recording. CONSTITUTION:The transfer sheet provided with a transfer layer comprising 1pts.wt. of a known leuco dye and 0.1-1pts.wt. of a polyester resin having recurring units of the formula and a melting point of 50-130 deg.C on a base and a receiving sheet provided with a receiving layer comprising a color developer for the leuco dye, e.g., a phenolic compound, as a main constituent are laminated on each other, and the transfer sheet is pressed against a thermal head to perform thermal transfer. In this case, the transfer sheet is moved relatively to the head at a rate of not less than (dot length/the number of times of repeated use of the transfer sheet) and less than the dot length per recording of one dot. |
