PURPOSE:To manufacture high quality thin plates with a high yield by subjecting to pressure molding a mixture prepared by mixing an original active material powder with an amount of water which does not cause any deterioration of the properties of the powder. CONSTITUTION:After an original active material powder 1 is mixed with 3- 10wt% of water, this is mixed and crushed repeatedly until the mean diameter of the secondary particles of the active material powder becomes about 40mu. After that, the active material powder is poured into a metallic mold 2 having given dimensions to obtain a formed body of a given volume which is then subjected to compression molding, thereby making a plate 6. The above moisture weight range of 3-10% prevents any harmful powder from scattering from the pasty active material. It also means moistening of the powder in such a range as to enable it to be handled without losing its physical properties. The secondary particle diameter of 40mu enables the paste to be uniformly supplied and packed. |
