PURPOSE:To obtain a stable momentary pulse large current by supplying a trigger current comprising a pulse current having a prescribed peak value and a prescribed continuous current supplied in succession to the said pulse current and smaller than the current to an ignitron. CONSTITUTION:A trigger pulse generating capacitor 10, e.g., a capacitor 4muF rated and 2,500V forms a pulse current IP with fast leading through a switch 11 and isolation transformers 4a, 4b, the continuous current IC is formed in the wave tail, while keeping a current of several ms with a diode 13 and a capacitor 12 having a comparatively large capacitance, e.g., 0.1muF rated and 50V, and a trigger current waveform is fed to the ignition. Thus, nearly uniform continuous discharge currents are obtained for discharge currents i1, i2 of momentary large current generating capacitors 1a and 1b. In this case, the trigger current of the ignitron has a peak value of 100-500A during the initial time 20mus and it is adequately used in a range of 5-50A for the continuous current succeeding thereto. |
