Monoazo compounds of the formula I <IMAGE> in which D denotes the radical of a diazo component customary in the chemistry of disperse dyes, R1 denotes hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, methoxy, ethoxy, methoxyethyl or ethoxyethyl, R2 denotes hydrogen, C1-4-alkyl, C1-4-alkylcarbonylamino, C1-4-alkoxy-C1-3-alkylcarbonylamino, fluoro-, chloro- or bromo-C1-2-alkylcarbonylamino, hydroxy-C1-3-alkylcarbonylamino, C1-4-alkoxycarbonylamino, C1-4-alkoxy-C2-3-alkoxycarbonylamino or C1-4-alkylsulphonylamino, R3 denotes hydrogen, C1-4-alkyl or C2-3-alkyl substituted by hydroxyl, C1-2-alkoxy, cyano, C1-3-alkylcarbonyloxy, C1-4-alkoxycarbonyloxy, C1-2-alkoxyethylcarbonyloxy, C1-2-alkoxyethoxycarbonyloxy or C1-4-alkoxycarbonyl, R4 denotes a straight-chain or branched alkylene radical having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and R5 denotes ortho- or para-diphenyl, are excellent disperse dyes.
