A carton is made from a blank comprising a base panel 1, front and back wall panels 2, 3, side wall panels 4, 5 extending from the side edges of panels 2, 3, extension panels 6, 7 extending from the top edges of panels 2, 3, three triangular gussets 10, 11, 12 at each end of panel 1 to connect it with side walls 4, 5, so that when panels 2, 3 are folded vertically with respect to base panel 1 the gussets 10, 11, 12 are folded to lie flat against the inside of panel 1, and a top closure being provided by at least one fin or butt seal including at least parts of panels 6, 7. As described, the closure is effected by adhering a diaphragm 14 of packaging material, Fig. 2, to flaps 6, 7 and tabs 8. Tabs 8 overlie tabs 9 and may be adhered to them. Finally, the tabs 8, 9 are folded inwardly horizontally followed by flaps 6, 7. |
