CONTACT ANGLE MEASURING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To enable the setting of the measuring time interval as desired with a reduction in the measuring time by photographing fine liquid drops fallen on a solid plane with a 2-D image sensor to process images. CONSTITUTION:A pulse motor 4 is rotated to lower a needle 19 and a pulse motor 13 is rotated to discharge a specified amount of a liquid sample onto a solid plane 23 with a piston 11. A fine liquid drop 21 is photographed with a 2-D image sensor camera 37 and a video signal is fed to an arithmetic control section 40 through an image processing memory unit 38 to be displayed on a CRT43. The motor 4 is reversed and a measurement is started the moment the needle 19 separates from the fine liquid drop 21 and the video signal at a certain time (i) is processed with an image processing memory unit 38 to calculate and store the contact surface diameter l and the height (h) and the contact angle theta is calculated with the arithmetic control section 40 and printed out on a printer 41.
