摘要 PURPOSE:To make the flow of the molten steel in the outflow part of a tundish uniform and to enable casting of a good billet by erecting tubular refractory punched with many apertures in a specified range in the upper part of the tapping hole in the tundish and controlling the flow of the molten steel to the tapping hole. CONSTITUTION:Tubular refractory 5 for controlling the flow of the molten steel in a tundish 1 for continuous casting of a steel punched with many apertures 5a are disposed approximately perpendicularly in the upper part of the tapping hole of said tundish. The apertures 5a are preferably provided within the lower range corresponding approximately to 2/3 of the overall height within 240 deg. central angle on the gable wall 3b side of the refractory 5. The flow of the molten steel into the tapping port for the molten steel poured into the tundish 1 is thus controlled to make the flow pattern from the tapping hole to an insert nozzle 7 uniform and to prevent inclusion of the material floated on a molten steel surface 13, by which casting of the billet having good quality is made possible.
