PURPOSE:To prevent a photosensitive belt from being stained with sticking toner and eliminate unpleasantness to a toner image obserber by reducing the resistance of an area on the belt which is not used for image formation. CONSTITUTION:When the photoconductive belt 8 is exposed to an image by a laser 5 while a mgnetic brush 17 impressed with a bias voltage is brought into contact, toner 18 sticks to only a light part to form a toner image on the belt surface, so this is obserbed in a window 2. Belt parts 8C and 8D which can not be utilized for image formation because of the seam of the belt and too long time of acceleration from the stop of the belt to a specific speed are made lower in resistance than image formation parts 8A and 8B to prevent the belt from being stained with sticking toner while the device is not in operation. In this case, the resistance is reduced by dissolving a photoconductive layer and exposing a transparent conductive layer, or by applying conductive carbon mixed resin over the photoconductive layer. |
