PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacture of a roll by inserting the leading end of a material to be rolled with a flat core plate into a chuck portion of a winder and rotating the winder to roll up the core plate with the material to be rolled so that the core plate is formed as the core shaft of the rolled material. CONSTITUTION:In case of rolling up a material 4 to be rolled, the leading end 5 of the material 4 is held to one end 6 of a core plate 3, which is moved in direction of A to be inserted in a chuck portion 2 of a shaft 1, and the respective end portions 5, 6 are retained one over another in the interior of the chuck portion 2. Subsequently, a winder is driven to rotate the shaft 1, so that with the respective end portions 5, 6 retained in the chuck portion 2, the material 4 and the core plate 3 are rolled up into a whirpool to complete a roll 7. At this time, the core plate 3 is formed into a whirlpool core shaft. Thus, the flate core plate 3 is rolled up with the material 4 to form a core shaft, which can facilitate manufacture of the roll 7. |
