A pressure fluid operated piston-cylinder device comprises a cylinder end wall extension forming a piston rod bearing portion (20). The piston rod (15) has a non-circular cross section for cooperation with a mating opening in the bearing portion (20), thereby preventing relative rotation between the piston rod (15) and the cylinder (10). The bearing portion (20) is provided with six equally distributed axial slots (21), the slots being shorter than the bearing portion (20). The portion is lined with a bearing sleeve (23) made of high density polyethylene. The bearing portion (20) is radially compressible by means of wedge rings (24-27) so as to accomplish adjustment of the radial as well as the rotational play between the cylinder end wall (12) and the piston rod (15).
