The invention relates to an arrangement of a filler neck for a fuel tank in the body of a motor vehicle, the end piece of which is led through an opening, provided in a body wall section, with a radial gap and can be closed by means of a filler cap, which in its closed position overlaps the end of the filler neck and the diameter of which is smaller than the diameter of the opening. In the event of impact forces due to an accident, under the action of which the fuel tank can detach itself from its anchorage and can evade deforming body sections, such an arrangement also permits a displacement of the filler neck. When the filler neck dips away, however, the radially projecting filler cap edge frequently catches behind the annular edge of the opening and is thereby lifted or even torn off. This is prevented either by a collar conically widened on the filler neck in the direction of the filler cap and adjoining the latter, the large diameter of which collar is at least equal to that of the filler cap, or in that the opening is conically widened in the direction of the end of the neck.
