PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording material excellent in sensitivity and capable of being prepared in good productivity, formed by providing an optical image recording layer, which is formed of a composition prepared by dispersing fine metal particles in a transparent synthetic resin and of which the upper surface side is brought into a metal gloss surface, on a base material. CONSTITUTION:A photodecomposable development control agent having a diazo or azido group (a) and a metal compound reduced to form a metal development nucleus [e.g., palladium (II) salt of bis (ethylenediamine)] (b) are dispersed in a transparent synthetic resin (e.g., polyvinyl acetate) (c) to form a sensitive material layer 3 which is, in turn, provided onto a base material 2 to form a sensitive material 1. In the next step, the sensitive material is exposed in an imagewise pattern by using a transparent original 4 corresponding to a recording part desired in the formation of an image and the development control agent of the exposed part 3A is decomposed to form a latent image. Subsequently, the exposed one is treated with an aqueous reducing agent solution to generate metal development nuclei to the whole of the exposed part 3A and, thereafter, physical development is performed to allow a metal such as Ni or Co to precipitate to the surface layer part to form an optical image recording layer wherein a metal gloss surface 3B is formed on a fine metal particle dispersed layer 3C. |
