PURPOSE:To reduce torsional vibration of a crankshaft which is directly connected to a drive shaft, by attaching a fan housing to the drive shaft through a fluid coupling, and as well by attaching a weight having a predetermined weight value to the housing. CONSTITUTION:A fan housing 3 is attached to the front end of a drive shaft 2 directly coupled to a crankshaft 1, through a bearing 4 and a temperature-sensitive type fluid coupling 5. A weight W having a predetermined weight which is set at a value of, for example, 1-3% of the weight of the engine is attached to the side surface of the fan housing 3. The fluid coupling 5 is stored in the fan housing 3, and viscous fluid Q is contained in the disc chamber 12 of the fan housing 3. Further, upon high temperature running of the engine a drive disc 8 attached to the front end of the drive shaft 2 is engaged with the fan housing 3 by means the viscosity of the viscous fluid 8. With this arrangement torsional vibration of the crankshaft 1 may be reduced. |
