The device is characterised in that it comprises a tubular body provided with at least one pair of reinforcements 19 and 20 or 21 and 22, in each of which pairs the reinforcements follow paths which, from one end 29 or 30 of the tubular body as far as the articulation prominence, are substantially parallel to the axis of the corresponding part of the limb and each abut on one side of the prominence 4 after which they bifurcate then cross over at a point 31 situated in the median plane of the limb and on the face of the said limb carrying this prominence and finally follow their path towards the opposite face.
