Crown ether derivatives, and their preparation and use in ion-selective electrodes. Crown ether derivatives of the formula (I) <IMAGE> where Z1 is a group of the formula <IMAGE>, and Ra and Rb are alkyl having up to 4 and 20 C atoms, respectively, are prepared in a small number of different processes. Crown ether derivatives of the formula (I) are valuable for producing ion-selective electrodes having a long lifespan.
