<p>Pure hellebrin (I) is obtd. from defatted hellebrin extract, by dissolving in aq.- 1-3C alkanol or aq. acetone and extracting this soln. with a mixt. of a 1-3C alkanol or acetone acid di-, tri- or tetrachloromethane or dichloroethane. The extract is then concentrated in vacuo and refluxed with ethanol until (I) crystallises out. - (I) is a cardioactive glycoside, intermediate in activity between Strophanthus and Scilla glycosides. The extraction gives good yields (about 80%), does not require large amounts of solvent or take a long time. (0/2)</p> |
