PURPOSE:To prevent materials and a hearth roller having a transfer groove and disposed at a predetermined skew angle in a hearth from damages due to a force action by journalling axially movably both ends of the hearth roller. CONSTITUTION:When a hearth roller 3 is supported by a support device 10 to be driven such that the center of a groove 5 is aligned with the center L of passage of a material W, said center L is partially deviated by thermal expansion difference of the roller 3 or an axial horizontal load acts on the specified hearth roller 3 by the bending of the material W. However, since the hearth roller 3 is supported by a thrust bearing 24 the hearth roller 3 slides by the force action to absorb the action force. Thus, the irrational force action exerted to the material W and the hearth roller 3 is restrained to prevent them from damages. |
