Refractory oxide coatings for reactors - and melting tanks

Coatings resistant to temperature and corrosion comprises refractory oxides, esp corundum, and as binders mixed condensed alcoholates of Al and/or Zr and Si diluted by solvents, esp. alcohols or ketones contng up to 4C atoms and are consolidated opt inside a coating mould. Pref. 2-4C alcoholates are used and the mass is consolidated by heating with wet inert gas, esp air, heated to 140 degrees C, when a mixed alcoholate of Si and Al is used with fine-grained corundum consolidation may be carried out by direct flame action or for up to 800-1000 degrees C. The coatings may be used on apparatus for chlorination under reducing conditions.
