The subject-matter of the invention are new Äbis(hydroxymethyl)-methylÜ-isoquinoline derivatives of the formula (I) <CHEM> wherein R<1> and R<2> represent hydroxyl or alkoxy having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R<3> is hydrogen or a single electron pair and the dotted line represents an optional second bond, and salts thereof as well as a process for preparing these compounds and pharmaceutical compositions containing them.
