According to other improvements the independent evaporator may be a single-effect one with thermocompression or with mechanical compression of its vapour, while the evaporator 8 for replacing the boiler can be combined with a boiler. The invention enables radical energy savings to be achieved, especially in the case of application to the distillation of alcohol and the concentration of the distillation effluent or of a liquid to be concentrated such as a grape must.
