The invention relates to a patient turning device for an X-ray examination unit (7, 8, 9) which has a rolled cloth (6) wound onto two parallel rollers (4, 5) to support the patient, the cloth being wound up or unwound in order to turn the patient about his longitudinal axis. The two rollers (4, 5) are located beside a mounting plate (3) which does not possess any radiopaque metal parts, and can be adjusted upwards at right angles to the mounting plate (3), the rolled cloth (6) being wound up or unwound during the adjustment. <IMAGE>
